Why Bamboo underwear?

Did you ever ask yourself why bamboo underwear is getting more and more popular?

As you can tell by the article name, we will discuss why bamboo underwear is so important, in fact we will dive deeper into the matter of underwear and how underwear affects our lives, especially women. For a very long period of my life I though that by wearing cotton underwear, I won’t have to worry about comfort, health or sustainability issues. Silly me…let’s go!

Why Bamboo and not Cotton?

I guess that is our base conversation to cover when explaining why bamboo underwear.

Cotton

• Cotton underwear is traditionally known to be the best solution for our underwear. However, even though it is pretty good, it has less benefits compared to bamboo. Cotton is soft but it becomes more and more rough as you wash it.
• It undergoes chemical procedure that includes pesticides to get rid of pests.
• Structure of cotton is much more stiff. Bottom line, it is harder to keep it sustainable, chemical treaded and it is less absorbent than bamboo.

• About 16% of all pesticides in the world are used to grow cotton.

Bamboo

• I had used cotton my whole life and realized no matter what brand I bough, it would eventually shrink and feel hard on my skin. That is not the case with bamboo, they last longer and keep their size and shape.

• Bamboo is thermoregulating, it cools down in the hot days and keeps you warm in the cold. On the that I loves was that they are only getting softer as you wash it.

• I will always suggest to go with organically grown bamboo, it is super soft and so it feels much lighter on your skin. Bamboo grows like crazy so there is no need for fertilizer.

• Not to forget that is extra absorbent, in fact 4 times more absorbent than cotton. It has a structure that contains macro gaps that evaporate moisture so it doesn’t create bacteria.

• I live in Florida and really appreciate the fact that all bamboo underwear has UPF50+ rated that protect from uv damage!

• Because of it’s breathable properties and antibacterial characteristics, there is very low risk of yeast infection.

You get the point in why bamboo underwear, it is much better in so many ways!
