Skin care routine
Everyone’s skin care routine is different. You might have dry skin, acne, age spots or just oily skin. According to your skin type you are probably using certain cleanser and exfoliators. When you use a face mask once a week, results can be amazing and seen in just one month. Yes, face masks should be done once a week. If you like, do it twice but be careful with what ingredients you use and how it feels on your skin. Before you apply any mask:
- Before you apply any mask on your face, apply small amount on the area just above your palm where the skin is super tiny and sensitive. If you have any reaction, don’t apply the face mask to your face as it would cause irritation.
- Make sure to clean your face with cleanser
- Exfoliate your skin so it can absorb the nutrients that will come with the face mask.
- After face mask, proceed with your normal face care routine.
I am suggesting your these 3 DIY face masks based on my personal experience and experience of my friends and family that have used them too. We are talking only about natural, pure ingredients that you most likely have in your pantry.
1.Honey and yogurt face mask
What you need:
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- 1 tablespoon of yogurt
How: In a small bowl put those ingredients together and mix them well till honey melts together with the yogurt. Raw honey is little bit harder so be patient till it melts. Once ready, apply the mix on the clean face by rubbing it in all over your face. Wait for 15-20 min before you rinse it off with warm water. To dry your face tap it gently with your face towel.
Honey is so powerful as it has antibacterial benefits along with many others: it is soothing, hydrating, lightens the scars and hyperpigmentation, fights acne and sunburn. I believe there is more to it but this is plenty. For me it had the most amazing effect when I got sunburn, after only 20 min of applying the same mask, my skin felt soft and I got almost immediately my normal skin tone back (it was burning red before).
Yogurt is extremely moisturizing as it contains lactic acid as well as exfoliating the skin. Did you know that yogurt actually has uv protection in it? It reduces inflammation.
Together this mask is my first choice. Make sure you have no allergies on these 2 ingredients.
2.Honey, turmeric and aloe gel face mask
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of raw honey
Half tablespoon of turmeric powder
1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel
How: Grab a small bowl again and mix the above ingredient until well combined. Turmeric is very potent so be careful not to put it around your eyes. Once applied, leave it on your face for about 15-20 min and rinse. Gently, pat your skin dry.
Turmeric is the most powerful against inflammation, but it is also famous for it’s antibacterial and antiseptic effects. It is known to be used well against acnes and bacterias. If used regularly it can help blemishes fade away naturally.
Aloe vera is famous for soothing and moisturizing benefits. It has a special cooling effect that is amazing after sunburn or for the faster healing process. It is also famous for anti aging properties. The best thing is that you can have one aloe vera plant in your apartment and it’s easy to maintain.
3. Honey, banana and cinnamon face mask
Needed:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- Half teaspoon cinnamon powder
How: start by mashing the banana until very smooth, add to it honey and cinnamon and mix till well combined. Avoid the eye area when applying. Mask has to stay on the face for 15-20min, rinse and dry.
Banana benefits: controls the excess oil and sebum, smooths the skin, moisturizing and hydrating, it is collagen booster to your skin which makes it more firm. Ultimately it gives your skin a nice glow.
Cinnamon helps stimulate the blood circulation which helps in preventing acne, it is reducing signs of aging and gives your skin radiant appearance. It is used to even out the skin texture and exfoliates. In treatment of eczema it is a good helper, just mix spoon of honey with spoon of cinnamon, apply on affected area and the results will be visible within a week.
